The Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY), hailed as the "Oscar of Nature Photography," has consistently upheld its mission since its inception in 1965: "to encourage the work of wildlife photographers and enhance the prestige of wildlife photography" and "to engage the broadest possible audience in caring about animals and the important issue of nature conservation, ultimately benefiting the animals themselves."

Zhinong Xie, the founder of Wild China Film and the first Chinese photographer to win the WPY, personally interpreted the award-winning works and screened highlights from the documentary "Snow Leopard and Her Friends," which he brought and is set to be released in China soon.

Zhinong Xie ,said at the opening ceremony: "Since the first Chinese photographer won an award in 2001, 21 works by 14 Chinese photographers have been awarded in the competition over the years. The WPY exhibition has come to Shanghai this time to present the best nature images to the knowledgeable public in the city, to inspire everyone's passion for nature conservation, and to draw attention to and support for the cause of wildlife protection."

Victor Wang, the chairman of the co-organizer Fofund, said: "The natural world is the foundation upon which we all depend for survival. Protecting the natural environment and the habitats of wildlife is the responsibility of every enterprise and individual." To allow more visitors to closely appreciate these world-class wildlife photographic works, Fofund specifically chose to hold the exhibition in the century-old buildings of the Bund, which are rich in historical significance and artistic atmosphere, and the exhibition is free to the public. Victor added: "Hosting the WPY exhibition is about presenting the best nature images to share the beauty, fascination, and emotion of the natural world, as well as to draw attention to and support for the cause of wildlife protection, in order to promote harmony between humans and nature."
